CFA Exam Levels

CFA Level I

Purpose: Introduction to fundamental concepts and tools used in investment management.

Content: Ethical and professional standards, quantitative methods, economics, financial statement analysis, corporate finance, equity investments, fixed income, derivatives, alternative investments, portfolio management.

Description: The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions and is divided into two 135-minute sessions.

CFA Level II

Content: Advanced topics from Level I, focusing on asset valuation, investment tools, and portfolio management.

Description: The exam consists of item sets (vignettes) with associated multiple-choice questions.

CFA Level III

Purpose: Focus on portfolio management and wealth planning.

Content: Ethical and professional standards, portfolio management for institutional and individual investors, economic analysis, execution of investment mandates.

Description: The exam consists of both constructed response (essay) questions and item sets with multiple-choice questions.
